“Domestic Goddess” Roseanne Barr has been announced as the latest victim/honouree to be eviscerated on a Comedy Central roast.
The former Roseanne star will be torn a new one — or perhaps several — on August 4, when the roast will be taped in Los Angeles.
“Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to roast her,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s head of original programming and production. “Celebrating Roseanne’s unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this Roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through.”
In the press release announcement, roastee Roseanne remarked, “All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of… I mean, I’ve never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!”
Knowing Roseanne, who can give as good as she gets in the roasting department, hers won’t be the only blood on the stage.
Comedy Central will air the roast on August 12; here in Canada, the Comedy Network will likely air it on the same date, although an official announcement is still forthcoming.
