Coverage of the London 2012 Olympic games continues to trend on Twitter, with broadcasts of the games capturing the top five spots for most-tweeted-about network television broadcasts. NBC’s primetime coverage was once again in the No. 1 position, with more than 1.8 million tweets devoted to the network’s highlights of women’s gymnastics, women’s diving and swimming.
The Olympics was also dominant when it came to cable programming, with Olympics coverage on NBCUniversal-owned cable channels taking four of the top-10 spots for most-tweeted-about cable shows. Early-morning coverage of women’s soccer and men’s basketball on NBC Sports Network came in at first place with 635,928 tweets.
Proving not everyone is watching the games, last night’s second-most-tweeted-about cable broadcast was an episode of Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family (airing on MuchMusic here in Canada), with more than 300,000 tweets.
