Although it was European football (a.k.a. soccer) that dominated Twitter last night, with the Germany-vs.-Netherlands game generating more than 1.2 million tweets, the season premiere of Dallas was no social-media slouch. In fact, the reboot of the 1980s soap classic (which aired in the U.S. on cable net TNT) racked up 666,831 tweets, with many fans professing their love of this new old show. “Loved watching the new season last night!” reads on tweet, while another “thought it was a great first episode.” One tweet was somewhat even somewhat prescient: “Told you your twitter was going 2 EXPLODE after #DallasTNT premiered!” It did.
Last night’s network television offerings weren’t nearly as hot on Twitter, with So You Think You Can Dance topping trendrr.tv’s list with just over 76,000 tweets. Other notable shows to make an impact in the Twitterverse last night include Dogs in the City, Duets and a rerun of Criminal Minds.
