Despite reports that he’s in the running to take a seat at the ‘American Idol’ judging table next season, Adam Lambert has dismessed those rumours as, well, rumours. According to ‘Rolling Stone,’ Lambert addressed the flurry of buzz in an interview with a British radio station yesterday, revealing he hasn’t even been contacted (E! Online had reported he had been in ongoing discussions for more than a month). “I’m just hearing about this today as well, and so, what a beautiful rumour,” said Lambert. “Listen, if — and I say ‘if’ with a capital I-F — if they were to approach me and if they were to say, ‘We want you to be a judge on the show,’ I would love that. I would jump at the chance. I owe my career to American Idol. I mean, if it weren’t for American Idol, I doubt that…I would be sitting here with you…I think it would be really exciting to be sitting at a judging panel and trying to help people reach their dreams.”
As ‘RS’ points out, Lambert was rumoured to replace Simon Cowell back in 2010, but nothing ever came of that rumour either.
Meanwhile, not to be outdone in the rumour department, ‘The X Factor’ is reportedly still on the hunt for hosts, and Simon Cowell is insistent there be a male and female co-hosting together — probably to help us forget what a lousy host Steve Jones was last season.
Names that are being thrown around (by E! Online, anyway) include Mario Lopez, Khloé Kardashian Odom, former wrestler-turned-George-Clooney-arm-candy Stacy Keibler, Kelly Osbourne, hottie sportscaster Erin Andrews and radio personality Mike Catherwood.
