As predicted, last night’s big winner in the world of social media was the season premiere of America’s Got Talent and the debut of Howard Stern as judge. Reviews of Stern’s performance via Twitter were largely positive “I liked him a lot,” read one representative tweet. “Super-impressed with the new judge,” read another, while one viewer tweeted about Stern’s description of a performance as “touching” —“Normally, when Howard Stern talks about touching it has nothing to do with a musical performance.”
The season premiere of The Bachelorette came in at second place, while other shows to make an impact in the Twitterverse included the season finales of Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and Smash.
Of course, television’s biggest social-media broadcasts last night were the NBA playoff games, each of which racked up considerably more tweeting than AGT.
