Last night’s premiere of the 14th season of Big Brother led to some heavy-duty traffic on Twitter. In fact, more than 386,000 tweets were devoted to the debut, in which fans met the new houseguests, learned the identities of the four returning players, witnessed the crowning of the first “head of the household” and even saw the season’s first eviction — that was fast!
Over on Fox, its George Lopez-hosted dating game show Take Me Out saw a huge burst of social media energy. The show had experienced low ratings, and Fox decided to burn off the remaining episodes on Saturday nights when there are practically no viewers; mysteriously, ratings rose, and the network decided to keep the show right where it was. If Twitter traffic is any indication, this was a smart move; Take Me Out was last night’s second most-tweeted-about show, with 348,911 tweets.
Other heavy-hitters on Twitter last night include a reruns of The Big Bang Theory (92,717 tweets) and The Vampire Diaries (53,323), a new episode of it-takes-two singing competition Duets (31,251) and Fox’s otherdating game show, The Choice (27,410).
