The ratings are in, and Oprah Winfrey’s mega-hyped interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong hit the jackpot, delivering the highest ratings ever for the beleaguered Oprah Winfrey Network.

Last night’s interview (the first of a two-part edition of Oprah’s Next Chapter that concludes tonight) drew a whopping 3.2 million total viewers, with an additional airing racking up 1.1 million more for a total audience of 4.3 million U.S. viewers. In addition, millions more watched the interview online on Oprah.com.

As had been predicted, Winfrey’s interview with Armstrong topped the previous most-watched OWN show: the Oprah’s Next Chapter interview with the late Whitney Houston’s daughter, which attracted 3.5 million viewers when it aired in March 2012.

Here in Canada, the first part of the interview was watched by more than 800,000 viewers, making it the evening’s No. 1 show among English-language specialty channels in all key demos.
