If you’ve ever wondered where exactly Johnny Depp was when he chased after “The Black Pearl” in Pirates of the Caribbean, there’s an app for that! (It was off the coast of Puerto Rico – by the way!)

Oddly enough, this comes by way of foreign currency provider Travelex who has created “The Movie Lover’s Guide to the World” App. Taking data from movie site, IMDB (Internet Movie Database), Travelex compiled filming locations for the top 250 movies of all time and then had them mapped. The app is pretty basic with pins that allows you to hover over a location to see what was filmed there or you can select a specific film from a list on the sidebar and the pins associated with that film will pop up. Not surprisingly, a large chunk of the films were shot out of L.A.

In terms of detailed information, it’s pretty generic and there is no data around which scenes of the movie were shot where, but, I guess if you’re a fan, you’ll be able to figure it out.
