Prepare to hold your breath as you watch this video!

Now imagine the wave 10 feet higher!

On Tuesday, American surfer Garrett McNamara may have beat his own world record from November 2011 when he tackled a 90 foot wave (seen above). If experts can confirm that the mammoth wave he surfed off the coast of Portugal was indeed 100 feet high, McNamara will have surfed the biggest wave in the world.

Created by an underwater canyon, the wave was like something out of horrible nightmare. Though there’s not yet a video of the incredible feat, his record-breaking surf from November is enough to make me second guess ever swimming in Portugal’s volatile waters.

McNamara began surfing at age 11 and has been chasing waves ever since.

Stay tuned for confirmation of this incredible feat.
