In major cities across the globe, subway maps have always reminded me of tangled webs of colour and confusion. That said, figuring them out is one of my favourite challenges.
Also fascinated by the confusing jumble of public transit systems, New York-based artist and urban planner Neil Freeman created a series of line drawings which really show just how simple (or complicated) these can get.
Two of my favourites are San Franciso’s map with it’s widespread branches stretching out in four directions and Paris’ super dense map which makes you wonder if Parisians ever come up for air.
