If you though Wikipedia had all the answers, wait until you see Wikivoyage!
A newish travel site from the creator of the online encyclopedia to everything, Wikivoyage launched earlier this month as a free online travel guide providing around 50,000 articles on where to go and what to do/see/drink/eat when you get there. There are also tips on hotels, staying safe, language, getting around and cultural etiquette.
If you’re like me, the beginning of every major trip is marked with the purchase of a clunky and cumbersome guidebook so the idea of having everything you need available free and online is definitely appealing.
Though the site is still rather basic in it’s offerings, developers are hoping that in time, this will be a reliable and up-to-date resource for travellers.
