Steam bun fanatics rejoice! Momofuku has finally landed in Toronto.

After months of anticipation and a recent expansion to Australia, New York’s popular noodle bar has finally made its way north of the border to it’s first Canadian location in Toronto.

Momofuku is the passion project of New York-based chef David Chang who popularized his contemporary Asian-inspired cooking with Noodle Bar in New York’s East Village in 2004. Over the last eight years, his empire has expanded to include four other New York restaurants as well as a bakery chain (Milk) and most recently a location in downtown Sydney. Noodle Bar (TO) is the first of four restaurants set to open in the glass enclosure next to Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto’s downtown core.

Boasting a similar menu to the New York location, the Toronto Noodle Bar quietly opened it’s doors on Wednesday with a discreet tweet that had foodies scrambling. Though first day line-ups were minimal, expect longer wait times in the coming days as Chang leaves his mark on yet another city.
