Last week we told you a rather shameful story about a Canadian family smoking on a plane. This week, we attempt to redeem our nation with a new commercial from Molson Canadian beer which I’d like to think offers a more redeeming portrayal of us as a nation.
For the last few years Molson Canadian has focused their marketing strategy on national pride and this latest commercial is no exception. As we visit a couple in Berlin, follow two girls walking down a street in Dublin, eavesdrop on the back of a cab in Cape Town, drive through the dessert with some Aussies, and get late night eats with a group in Tokyo we hear about this hilarious, life-of-the-party adventurer they’ve met.
Turns out, this awesome traveller is Canadian.
The concept is a little far-fetched as I don’t think Canadian’s are generally looked upon as party animals (more like polite, less aggressive Americans) but hey, perhaps I’m mistaken. I mainly liked that the ad showed how life in different countries is not so different than in our own and that meeting a funny stranger is something worth talking about.
