Why go to a crowded movie theatre at your local mall when you can have the icebergs serve as a backdrop for this one-of-a-kind cinematic experience?!

Following closely on the tails of the “film festival in the sky” we told you about a few months back, Quark Expeditions will be launching their “floating” film festival this November.

Curated by Hot Docs, the Floating Polar Film Festival will feature a mix of documentary films on ecology, the environment, exploration and adventure. In total, 8 films will be screened throughout the 22-day tour as you weave your way through the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica via Buenos Aires.

So why take to the freezing cold waters to watch a movie? Hot Docs managing director, Brett Hendrie, explains “like Quark Expeditions’ clientele, documentary audiences are naturally curious and adventurous learners who want to discover more about the world around them. What better way to complement their eye-opening travels than with eye-opening films?”

I guess there’s no better place to cozy up on a cold night than in the movie theatre… or a hot tub (which they also have)!
