If you’re going to be any where near London’s Canary Wharf between now and February 15th, you need to check this out.

Part of an installation called Voyage by Aether & Hemera, the 300 illuminated origami boats are grouped together and lit from within. Using your mobile phone, you are able to engage and manipulate the boats to change their behaviour in the water.

Aether & Hemera is a collaborative Italian art group developed by media architect Claudio Benghi and light artist Gloria Ronchi whose vision is to “provoke memories, explore aesthetic interactions and to elicit feelings of connective human experiences” through their work. They created a number of really interesting installations across the UK and Italy since coming together in 2006.

I’m all for deep and meaningful art, but sometimes it’s great to look at something just because it’s pretty. Throw in the fact that you can change up the colours and move the boats around and this becomes a really cool way to spend an evening.
