Here’s how it works:

  • Rather than sell planes, Blackjet sells seats on planes with a capacity of between 6 to 14 people. Because these seats would have otherwise been empty, they are able to offer a reduced rate (For example: A cross-country flight between New York and LA would run around $3,551.40 for a seat compared to upwards of $50,000 for a private charter flight)
  • Flights are always direct and offer a first-class experience and the convenience of travelling with a small group
  • Because networking is important, Blackjet offers a variety of incentives and ‘deals’ to encourage people to join and convince their friends/colleagues to try out the service
  • Membership costs $2,500
  • Flights are easily booked using an App on your cell phone
Though this is still very much a luxury service that only a select few will be able to indulge in, it’s nice to know that the divide between the haves and have nots is getting just a tiny bit smaller.
