Next time you’re in Paris, consider staying at the Mama Shelter.
Located in the historic Saint Blaise neighborhood, this hotel has been a bit of a landmark destination since opening in 2008. First, it was designed by quirky French designer Philippe Starck, known for his playful yet highly stylized designs – most notably the iconic “Ghost Chair”, and second for its odd collaboration between the Trigano family (co-founders of Club Med) and eccentric French philosopher Cyril Aouizerate. The hotel really is one-of-a-kind.
Expect to find many of Starck’s classic pieces as well as unexpected adornments like lit up bedside masks and display cabinets of pirate hats. The “City of Lights” may have trouble luring you out of this enclave of amusement.
