A new Android app called ‘Douche Parking’ has been released in Russia, and its sole purpose is to equip annoyed drivers with the ability to seek revenge on awful parkers. How? By subjecting them to a public shaming in the news and on billboards.
When a user witnesses some inexcusable parking, all they need to do is snap a quick photograph with their phone and upload it to the app’s database. The data is then streamed live to banner ads that are targeted through an IP address, so that people close to the park job can see it. The ads run on the Moscow-based online news outlet The Village.
The shaming doesn’t end there. The Village’s ads showcasing the worst in parking are completely shareable via social media, so everyone can join in on the laugh.
Currently, the app is only available in Russia – where bad parking is apparently an overwhelming burden on society. Do you think your country – or city – needs an app like this? Or are you still more of a “I’ll show them with an stern note under the wiper blade” kind of individual?
