Today on the occasion of his 66th birthday, David Bowie dropped a new single. “Where Are We Now?” is a melancholy electric-tinged ballad that reflects on Bowie’s past and present. (The sweeping vocals and piano arrangement are straight out of his Ziggy Stardust days.) Fittingly, the accompanying video (directed by visual artists Tony Ousler) delves deep into Bowie’s nostalgia – according to a statement on his website, scenes were filmed with the musician¬†” looking in on footage of the auto repair shop beneath the apartment he lived in.” The song is off Bowie’s forthcoming album The Next Day, which breaks a decade-long hiatus of recording which will be released this March. We’re hoping for a tour and possibly some novel indie rock collaborations, since Bowie has previously recorded with Scarlett Johansson and TV On The Radio.
