Minutes after Yahoo’s newest CEO announced to the world via Twitter that she and her husband were expecting a baby boy, the online world lit up with controversy.

Marissa Mayer, long-time exec at competing tech giant Google, was tapped as Yahoo’s new CEO earlier this week, all while Mayer was around six months pregnant.

The blogosphere and Twitter were abuzz with debates on whether Mayer represented the epitome of a woman “having it all.” Was Yahoo showing off its progressive thinking by hiring a pregnant CEO, especially in the tech world’s boy’s club? Or does the appointment pressure other working mothers with a standard that may be impossible to reach because of Mayer’s wealth, talent, etc.?
