One of America’s big name is high-end retail plans to make its push across the border on the back of flailing retailer Sears Canada.
Seattle-based Nordstrom is preparing its plans to expand into the Great White North and move into three former flagship Sears locations around the country. The three stores include Pacific Centre in Vancouver, Chinook Centre in Calgary and Ottawa’s Rideau Centre.
Sears sold the leases for the three mall locations back to owner Cadillac Fairview earlier this year for $170 million. And obviously what doesn’t work for one retailer could work for another.
Nordstrom’s long-awaited entrance into Canadian retail follows a number of other big name U.S. stores also expanding across the border, including J.Crew and Target.
