It’s amazing to see the lengths people will go to in order to try to get “free” money. The promise of potentially winning millions of free euros landed one elderly Amsterdam man stuck in a underground trash bin.
A 76-year-old resident of the Netherlands found himself stuck in an underground waste container on Thursday during his hunt for his lottery ticket. Obviously the man suspected he had thrown out a ticket potentially worth millions, and tried to go to great lengths to find it.
After lowering himself into the underground container during the course of his determined search, he found he couldn’t climb out again. Emergency responders, including the police and firefighters, managed to pull the elderly man back to solid ground when people nearby heard him shouting for help from the depths of the waste bin.
Luckily, he didn’t seem any worse for the wear (other than likely needing a hot shower) after his reported dumpster dive.
Unfortunately, according to police who responded to the scene, the man didn’t find his lottery ticket in the course of his stinky search. And it is still unclear if the ticket even had the winning numbers to begin with.
