A good pair of skis can set you back $500. A decent shovel, on the other hand, can cost as little as $20, and it can do the job of transporting you down a hill just as effectively.
Of course, shovels do have a few disadvantages when it comes to sledding. For instance, once you’ve gathered a bit of speed, the only way that you can stop—as the man in the below video learns—is to wipe out. This looks kinda dangerous, so don’t try this at home. Or, you know, on a ski hill.
