As far as badass monikers go, ‘Sverre Liliequist’ ain’t exactly high up on the list. But what this freeskier lacks in naming rights, he more than makes up for in avalanche-thwarting skills. Here he is at the 2013 Swatch Skiers Cup in Zermatt, Switzerland. Negotiating the Alps is a daunting task on the best of days, and that’s without the additional peril of being overtaken by a million tons of white powder. Yep, not sure if Liliequist had been yodeling too loudly prior to his descent, but something sure triggered the living fudge out of this deadly deluge. Regardless of the cause, my man clearly had a survival plan tucked away should such a situation ever present itself: back-flip the heck away from the snow, yo! To borrow a phrase from Anchorman, “60% of the time it works every time.”
