Last night’s BCS championship game was a real snoozer, with Alabama completely demolishing Notre Dame right from the get-go. Alabama was led by the strong play of RB Eddie Lacy, and…just kidding, nobody wants to hear about that game.

Let’s get right to what people are actually talking about, Katherine Webb (AKA Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend AKA the former Miss Alabama AKA the internet’s latest viral star). Knowing that the game was garbage, ESPN honed the camera in on her for a borderline-uncomfortable period of time during the first quarter.

Luckily, there to push it right over the this-is-pretty-creepy line was Kirk Herbstreit and 73-year old Brent Musburger’s commentary, which included the insights ‘You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women’, ‘Whoa’, and ‘If you’re a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop.’

Remember kids, play for the love of the game, not for the ladies.

Also, apologies for the low-res screencap at the top of the post. Hopefully this makes up for it:

Update: ESPN has actually apologized for all of this. Here’s their statement:

We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.
