Meet Al Walser. You’ve never heard of him, and he’s pretty terrible. But now he’s a pretty terrible guy you’ve never heard of who’s also a GRAMMY NOMINEE. Which seems hard to believe when you take a listen to his song I Can’t Live Without You. Sweet Georgia Brown, it ain’t good. Nonetheless, it recently clinched a nom in the Best Dance Recording category alongside such heavyweights as Skrillex, Avicii, and Swedish House Mafia. In fact, when the Grammy folks made their announcement last week, the video for I Can’t Live Without You was ‘boasting’ a mere 10,000 hits on YouTube (about the equivalent of a really average “dad accidentally gets smacked in the junk” clip).
Trivia: this video looks like it was made for $19.50 at a shopping mall kiosk.
Additional trivia: here’s a short list of folks who, unlike Al Walser, have never received a Grammy nomination. Stray Cats, Creedence Clearwater Revival, ABBA, the Smiths, Led Zeppelin, the Supremes.
