The expression “like herding cats” is often used to describe tasks that are considered difficult and/or impossible. For example, “Getting the Republicans and Democrats to agree on [insert any issue here] is like herding cats.” Or maybe, “Persuading the crowd at the Gathering of the Juggalos to sit through that Twilight marathon was like herding cats.” Or possibly, “Herding all the mice into the room with the cat was a bit like herding cats.”

Well, it looks like evolution may have finally reached the point where that expression no longer makes any sense. If it turns out that all cats are as co-operative as the one in the below video, then herding them probably isn’t that difficult at all. Which means that we’ll need a new expression to describe difficult tasks. I propose we use, “Like making a viral video without a cute kitten in it.” Because that’s something we all know is never going to happen.
