In 1970, Gordon Gallup Jr. developed a test to gauge animal self-awareness. He’d put a dot on the animal’s forehead, then place the furry fella in front of a mirror. Upon seeing itself, if the animal tried to remove the dot from its own forehead, it clearly understood the basic tenets of image reflection. In recent years, this same test has been applied to dumb babies, but that’s a whole ‘nother conversation.

Anyhow, the folks who filmed this video didn’t need to break out the bingo dauber to see if their precious Fluffy could pass Gallup’s test. Put another way: good thing you’ve got your looks, kitty, ’cause you’re about as dumb as a 1980s supermodel.
