Who needs the NHL when you have screaming fans of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen throwing 21,534 teddy bears on the ice?
That’s exactly what happened at a game last night. A yearly tradition, the Teddy Bear Toss is exactly what it sounds like – after the first goal by the home side fans throw Teddy Bears onto the ice, which are later given to local charities.
I’m not totally sure what happens if no one actually scores, but in this case the onslaught of stuffed bears was never in doubt as Pavlo Padakin scored just over 13 minutes into the game.
