Anyone who’s seen Forrest Gump — which is all of us, quite frankly — knows that the film’s title character was no slouch when it came to the table tennis arts. In fact, the young man was quite the prodigy, regularly wowing spectators on the U.S.O. circuit with his deft ping-pongery. But here’s the question: what if instead of simply being shot in the buttocks during his tour of duty in Viet Nam, our pal Forrest lost a pair of limbs a la Lt. Dan? Would he have still been able to dominate the ball and paddle? Something tells me no. Which makes the ping pong-playing fellow in this video all the more impressive: despite having no arms to speak of, he’s able to throw down with the best of them. It’s inspiring to say the least, and will likely make you think twice before giving up on a task previously assumed to be too difficult. Just ask yourself, “WWAPPPD?” (What Would Armless Ping Pong Player Do?)
